Personal Journey & Advocacy

Daneshia Drakeford is a woman shaped by resilience, faith, and lived experience. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her early twenties, she spent several years carrying a struggle that was invisible to the world.

She went through school, motherhood, marriage, and caregiving while quietly managing the physical and emotional weight of MS—often without telling anyone what she was enduring.

Born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she grew up with strong values of perseverance, family, and hard work. These values carried her through some of the hardest chapters of her life, including financial challenges, health setbacks, and the incredible birth of her son, which defied medical expectations.

For years, Daneshia kept her story private. But eventually, she chose to share her truth openly—not for sympathy, but to help others facing silent struggles of their own. In Silent Battles, she speaks honestly about her diagnosis, caregiving, emotional hardship, and moments of strength that helped her keep going.

Her openness has made her a relatable voice for people living with chronic illness and invisible conditions. Daneshia uses her experience to raise awareness about the realities of MS, helping others feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Above all, she is a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose courage shines through every chapter of her life. Her journey shows that even in silence, strength is building—and sharing that story can be a powerful act of advocacy.
